Doing a search in the Web of Science for “biodiversity conservation” in Nature or Science reveals the following for the abstracts published in the years 2010 and 2011: lots of stuff that’s GLOBAL, deals with CLIMATE, is NEW (haha), and also plenty on CHANGE and FOOD (I edited out ‘conservation’ and ‘biodiversity’). See this word cloud (thanks to http://www.wordle.net):
By contrast, ten years earlier (2000 and 2001 combined), these journals had slightly less emphasis on all things GLOBAL… but they had more on FOREST, more on ECOLOGY and more on HABITAT and EXTINCTION. See this word cloud:
What will it be in another ten years?
