In a recent post on this site, I argued that large carnivores were critically important in the Saxon area of Transylvania.
Well, since then a new review paper came out in the prestigious journal Science. James Estes and his co-authors describe a range of global examples where the loss of top predators has caused major changes throughout the food chain. That’s what we need to keep in mind during our work in Romania, where so far, the top predators still exist!
